Equipment and layout
Region A – Ward Beds: Features 10 ward beds, each comprising a bed, a patient model, a pillow, a cool blanket, an overbed table, a desk beside the bed, a square table, and a bed curtain. These ward beds are used by instructors and students to practice (as shown in the picture). Region B - Nursing Station: The nursing station is equipped with a broadcast system and computer devices, enabling students to learn the functions of a nursing station and watch technical DVDs (as shown in the picture).
Region C - Stock Supply: Comprises technical items that are fundamental to nursing techniques, which instructors use to demonstrate techniques and students use to practice (as shown in the picture).
Region D - Exhibition: Various models and standard technical trays are exhibited.
Curriculum Description
The purpose of this course is to teach students the generally Medical-Surgical Nursing care skills by utilizing the methods of direct demonstration and repeated practice. The contents of this course are based on the professional knowledge of Medical-Surgical Nursing. The general skills include Cardio-Pulmonary Cerebral Resuscitation,blood transfusion change dressing, suction, tracheostomy care, central venous pressure monitoring, care of Port-A catheter, pin site care of skeletal traction, endo care,colostomy care and on iv cath Teaching Objectives
1. Understand the principle of integrating theories and techniques in medical and surgical nursing. 2. Become familiar with the operational procedures of medical and surgical nursing techniques. 3. Learn to perform and employ the medical and surgical nursing techniques in simulated clinical scenarios. 4. Learn to satisfy the physical and mental requirements of a patient when performing medical and surgical nursing techniques Teaching Subjects 1. Suction 2. Pin site care 3. Wet dressing 4.
