The equipment and planning of the Maternity Nursing Laboratory are listed below:

 

I. Practice area: Five practice areas are installed, with a bed, a laboring woman dummy, a pillow, a quilt, a newborn treatment table, a newborn dummy, a baby bed, an abdominal palpation model for Leopold’s maneuvers, a fetal monitor, and a bed curtain. Teachers can use this area to lecture and students can practice here (see the picture).

 

II. Storage area: This area stores materials necessary for performing maternity nursing techniques that teachers can use to demonstrate and students can use for practice (see the picture).

 

III. Exhibition area: This area includes a model exhibition and technical standard disk exhibition.

 

IV. Teaching objectives (annual goal)

        (1) Cognitive domain:

1.          Understand the features and importance of physical, social, and biological environments in a medical setting for women and babies;

2.          Understand various basic needs of pregnant women, women in labor, and newborns;

3.          Be familiar with the operational objectives and application timing of various maternity nursing techniques.

   

  

(2) Psychomotor domain:

1.          Understand how to use observation and communication skills to establish favorable therapeutic international relationships;

2.          Organize various basic theories and techniques satisfying human needs according to Maslow’s theory;

3.          Independently and properly operate maternity nursing techniques, such as Leopold’s maneuvers, immediate care of the newborn, the Lamaze childbirth method, and post-partum exercises.

     

        (3) Affective domain:

1.          Understand the vital role that women’s and babies’ nursing personnel play on satisfying the physical, mental, and spiritual requirements of the service subject.

2.          Understand the importance of correctly performing each women’s and babies’ nursing techniques.

3.          Realize the roles and functions of women’s and babies’ nursing personnel on the medical care team.
