Application Regulations for the Health Care and Technology Certificate Program, Tzu Chi University of Science and Technology

Article 1In response to the Industrial Talent Development Promotion Project of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Ministry of Education, as well as the implementation of the Future Demand for Talent in Key Industries and the cultivation of future professionals in the health-care technology industry, the University has established a healthcare and technology certificate program (hereinafter “the program”) to provide students with diverse choices for their studies. The present regulations were jointly planned by the Office of Academic Affairs, the College of Nursing, and relevant departments, and are based on the Regulations Governing Program Establishment at  Tzu Chi University of Science and Technology.

Article 2The objective of the program is to improve students’ health care and technology literacy, adapt to industry trends, deepen health and technology education, and cultivate young people with macro perspectives in health technology.

Article 3   Students of the University and other universities with an equivalent education level may elect to enroll in the program. Applications from students from other universities shall be processed in accordance with the University’s regulations for interuniversity course applications.

Article 4The minimum graduation credits required for this program are 18 credits, including 4 credits in core required courses and 14 in core elective courses; the contents of the courses are listed below.

Article 5The courses and credits of the program are as follows:

Article 6 The maximum and minimum credits for course selection for individual students each semester are subject to relevant regulations of the University. The program credits are not included in the total credits of the semester, and the grades are not included in the semester and graduation scores.

Article 7 Students enrolled in the program may be waived credits for credits received for courses with titles and content similar to those of the program courses, for up to one-third of the total credits required for the program. Students may have core elective credits waived by their respective department or institute for credits received from program courses following a review by the department curriculum committee and approval from the credit waiver committee. Relevant provisions on credit waivers are implemented in accordance with relevant university regulations for credit waiver and course enrollment following credit waiver.

Article 8Students enrolled in the program who have met the graduation requirements of their departments but not completed sufficient courses and credits shall delay their graduation for 1 academic year.

Article 9Students who have been approved to enroll in the program and have completed and passed the required courses and credits within the prescribed time limit shall be conferred a Certificate of Completion for the Healthcare and Technology Program, which shall specify the program name or department or institute name for cross-departmental students.

Article 10The application forms for certificate programs may be designed by the unit offering the certificate program. The format of the certificate of completion shall be specified by the Office of Academic Affairs.

Article 11Matters not covered by these regulations are processed in accordance with the University Constitution and relevant regulations of the University.

Article 12These regulations are implemented upon approval by an Academic Affairs meeting and the approval of and promulgation by the University President’s Office; the same applies for revisions.
